Apple has released firmware 8A356 for AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2, bringing new features to everyone around the world.
New AirPods Firmware 8A356 Out Now with New Features for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 Tahoe
Back at WWDC 2025, Apple announced a bunch of new features coming to AirPods, including higher quality audio, improved battery notifications, and more.
Alongside iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 Tahoe, Apple has released a new firmware for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4, bringing those announced features to aforementioned devices.
The new firmware has the version number 8A356. And in order to download and install the update, your iPhone, iPad, and Mac must be running iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 Tahoe.
Once that is sorted out, you can simply connect your AirPods to your device and just let them be for several minutes. The update will install over the air on its own.
An interesting feature a lot of people will find handy is the ability to use the AirPods as a camera shutter remote. Just press on the stem with the Camera app open, and you’ll take a photo or start recording a video.
Probably the best feature which is part of this update is Live Translation. Everyone thought it’s exclusive to AirPods Pro 3, but with the new firmware, AirPods 2 and AirPods 4 users are getting it too.
