A new report says Apple is in early stages of talks with Google for powering its next-generation of Siri using Gemini.
Apple in Talks with Google to Power Next Generation of Siri with Gemini
It’s no secret that Apple is in talks with several companies to power the next generation of Siri. According to a report by Bloomberg, we can add Google to the list of companies working with Apple as well.
The report says that Apple has asked Google to create a custom AI model that will power Siri, and Google has already started training a model for Apple’s Private Cloud Compute servers.
Given the number of companies involved in powering Siri, it goes to show how far behind Apple is when it comes to in-house work on AI. And when you add in the fact that Apple is losing AI engineers thick and fast to companies like Meta, it’s not going to help with the cause one bit.
Apple CEO Tim Cook did say that the company is ready to make any sort of investment to get this done, and they will. So it’s not surprising that Apple is bringing on third parties to power Siri to finally reach its goal.
