Apple is currently rolling out a new firmware update for the 25W MagSafe Charger for iPhone and AirPods.

New 2A168 Firmware Update for 25W Apple MagSafe Charger Rolling Out Now

The new firmware update takes the version number to 2A168, and you can check whether or not you have the new firmware by following the tutorial posted here.

In order to install the update, just put your iPhone on charge using the 25W MagSafe Charger, and the new update will be installed automatically. There’s no other way at all, and you can’t really force the update.

In my experience, I’ve noticed that MagSafe firmware updates install themselves overnight with the iPhone on charge. Your mileage may vary when it comes to this.

The MagSafe Charger is tasked with charging iPhones and AirPods, and it’s safe to assume that the new firmware update ensures that the process of charging goes through as smoothly as possible.

Though we don’t think about it much, accessories like our phone chargers have gotten very smart over time. With so many safety features built-in, the software running the show has to be spot-on in order to make sure the connected device stays cool and safe while on charge.

Apple releases MagSafe firmware updates from time to time, and this isn’t the first time that it has happened, especially for the 25W model.
