Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air will have an extremely small battery capacity, all thanks to its ultra-thin design.

Latest Leak Suggests Apple’s iPhone 17 Air will have a Battery Under 3000mAh, Will Rely on Software to Get Through the Day

Previously, it was revealed that the iPhone 17 Air will have a 2800mAh internal battery, which is definitely small compared to something like the iPhone 16, which has a 3561mAh battery inside.

It will be a huge feat of engineering if Apple is able to fit a battery as big as the iPhone 16’s in a phone that’s rumored to be just 5.5mm thin.

Today, Instant Digital has joined the conversation and says that the iPhone 17 Air will have battery capacity under 3000mAh, and the new power saving mode in iOS 26 will help Apple’s thin smartphone get till the end of the day.

If today’s leak is anything to go by, then it seems like Apple has settled on a smaller 2800mAh or similar battery. But the thing is, if the iPhone 17 Air does manage to last a day using software wizardry, then who are we to complain, right?

Apple is definitely going to rely on fast charging features to compensate for a smaller battery. Even if the iPhone 17 Air has charging speeds faster than 20W, it will charge to 80% in no time, especially given how small a 2800mAh battery is.

On the MagSafe side of things, I have this feeling Apple is going to stick with 25W or faster wireless charging. Though rumors of Qi2.2 are flying around, I’m not sold on the idea just yet.

Apple’s target audience for the iPhone 17 Air is going to be an interesting one. With a battery this small, I’ll be impressed if Apple pitches this phone to everyone.

But there is one thing we are forgetting – this iPhone is rumored to get Apple’s in-house cellular modem, which means it will have a huge leg up on battery life.
