iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 Tahoe Adds a Lot of Improvements Over the First Beta, Here’s Everything New
The second developer beta is always the most exciting one because it guarantees a ton of changes to the operating system. This year, things aren’t so different.
If you are wondering what’s new in iOS 26, iPadOS 26 or macOS 26 Tahoe developer beta 2, then let’s dive right into it.
macOS 26 Tahoe Gets the Old Finder Icon Back
The most notable change in macOS 26 Tahoe developer beta 2 is the refreshed Finder icon. It’s less glassy and more classic. But of course, it still looks and feels like Liquid Glass.
Looks like Apple is keeping the original design around for even longer.
Menu Bar Can Have a Background
In the second beta of macOS 26 Tahoe, you can set the menu bar to have a background for better readability. I’m sure most of you will keep the background disabled for that clean look.
Everything New in iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 Developer Beta 2
Like I said, the second developer beta is always packed with changes, so let’s focus on the things that immediately stand out.
Control Center Blur is ‘Fixed’
Everyone complained that Control Center was too transparent and glassy. Apple has adjusted the blur and contrast of Control Center accordingly, making it more readable.
Notifications are Easier to Read
Lock Screen notifications on iPhone and iPad are easier to read as Apple has adjusted the background contrast a little.
Stock Wallpaper Parallax
The iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 stock wallpapers now have a parallax effect.
Recovery Assistant
A new feature called Recovery Assistant will let you restore your iPhone or iPad without connecting it to a Mac. It will even diagnose problems and try to fix them wirelessly.
New Ringtone
Remember that secret ringtone hidden away in the first beta? It’s now available to everyone. Just go to the Ringtone section and you’ll see the new ringtone labeled ‘Alt 1’ under Reflection.
Apple Music Live Radio Widget
A new Apple Music Live Radio widget is available on iPhone. Great for times when you just want to dive into music without having to select anything.
Ton of Bugs
Since this is a beta, you have to deal with bugs and other things that may hinder your daily use. It’s called ‘beta’ for a reason.
