Netflix has announced a major redesign is coming to the Apple TV app while the iOS app are getting generative AI features.

A New Netflix Experience is Coming to iPhone, iPad and Apple TV with Redesigned UI and AI Features

When it comes to streaming services, the app design doesn’t matter that much for me. Because you end up spending more time streaming the content itself than going through menus.

But, when I saw the upcoming redesign to the Netflix app, it nudged me into believing otherwise since it makes discovering content way more fun.

For of all, the new app takes the navigation bar from the left and puts it at the top on Apple TV, which gives more room to the content itself below. And this instantly makes the app look clean.

The thing that makes the new app great is how it utilizes AI to give you recommendations based on completely natural language on iPhone and iPad.

For example, you can just tell Netflix what kind of movie or TV show you like to watch, and it will instantly throw results at you.

But that’s not all. The app instantly recognizes your mood and starts tailoring recommendations on the fly. This is something I have wanted for a long time.

I don’t want the app to go through my past history and deliver me results based on that. Instead, it should know what I’m in the mood to watch there and then, and the new redesigned app does it in a snap.

Of course, the app does take your viewing habits into account to give you recommendations of movies and TV shows as well, something to be expected out of the box.

Last but not least, Netflix is testing a vertical scrolling video feed that will show you clips from movies and TV shows, allowing you to discover new content quickly and easily too.
