Apple is going to ship the standard iPhone 18 model with 12GB of RAM in order to support the new advanced iOS 27 Siri features.

iPhone 18 Will Ship with 12GB of RAM as Standard, Will Not See Any Price Bump Either

Currently, the base model iPhone 17 ships with 8GB of RAM, which is more than enough for the average user. But with 12GB of RAM, you get access to advanced Siri features in iOS 27 such as expressive voice.

Interestingly, these features are limited to devices like the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone Air, the new M4 iPad Air, and M5 iPad Pro as well.

According to DigiTimes, Apple wants to make sure that everyone gets access to these new Siri features, therefore it will ship the iPhone 18 with 12GB of RAM.

And, to make the deal even sweeter, the report says that Apple is not going to give the iPhone 18 a price bump, and will start at the same $799. Given every manufacturer hasn’t spared a minute to bump up prices due to rising memory cost, Apple is really adding great value to its products.

Back in 2024, there was a report that said that the iPhone 18 will ship with 12GB of RAM and A20 chip. At that time, it was unknown why the bump in RAM would be necessary, but now, it’s clear as day.

Do keep in mind that the iPhone 18 will not launch this year. Instead, Apple is going to launch it in early 2027 alongside the iPhone 18e, and the successor to the iPhone Air.
