Apple has confirmed that the mighty Mac Pro has been discontinued, and it won’t be selling it or making any more of it going forward.

Apple’s has Officially Discontinued the Expensive Mac Pro Desktop – Received its Last Update Back in 2023 with M2 Ultra

The news was confirmed by Apple to 9to5Mac, and if you go over to the official website, and jump into the Mac section, the Mac Pro has been thoroughly erased.

However, this doesn’t mean Apple will put an end to its support immediately. It will keep on receiving software updates, and you will be able to get it repaired as long as parts are available from Apple.

I believe Apple did the right thing. When Apple silicon exists, there is no need to sell a computer that is this massive in size. The Mac Studio is a perfect example of where Apple silicon has taken the Mac lineup, and the focus should be on computers that smoke everything else in an extremely compact form factor.

Just have a good look at the MacBook Neo. It sits comfortably at the bottom of the food chain, sells for just $599, and yet it is capable of doing things no one can imagine on a similarly priced Windows PC. That’s not me saying that; a lot of different tests and real-world use-cases are.

If you are truly looking for a ton of firepower in a Mac, then the M3 Ultra Mac Studio is the way to go. And given the new Studio Display is also available for purchase, you can create a rig that’s miles better than what you could have with a Mac Pro.

My point is, the Mac Pro isn’t the ultimate Mac Apple used to sell. There are way better options available, with more yet to come.
