With more responsibilities handed to John Ternus, the Apple executive is now one step away from becoming the company’s CEO.
John Ternus Started Overseeing Design at Apple Last Year, a Responsibility that was with CEO Tim Cook
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, John Ternus, is very likely to become the company’s next CEO. The likelihood of that happening increased when Jeff Williams stepped down from his role as COO of Apple.
According to Bloomberg, Tim Cook has been offloading a bunch of work to John Ternus already, preparing him for the big role behind the scenes. This also includes overseeing design at Apple late last year.
This is a big deal because only a very senior executive oversee design at Apple. Jony Ive famously enjoyed that role, and when he ultimately left, that role was handed over to Jeff Williams, which ultimately fell into the hands of Tim Cook, and now John Ternus.
All that’s left is the official announcement that Tim Cook is stepping down, and John is taking over. When will that happen? Apparently, very soon.
What makes me truly happy is how John is a product-focused guy, and not someone who is focused on AI slop.
