Apple’s iOS 27 update, set for release next year, will focus a lot on ‘quality and underlying performance’ improvements.
Apple Will Focus On Quality and Performance When it Comes to iOS 27, But there are Going to be Several New Features Included
iOS 26 is a big update. It introduces a whole new design language called Liquid Glass, and the company has a long way to go before it settles down with the changes.
Keeping that in mind, it seems like Apple is going to focus less on features next year, and more on quality and underlying performance, according to Mark Gurman in his PowerOn newsletter.
The report says that engineers at Apple are going through all operating systems to try and cut down bloat, fix bugs, boost performance, and improve the overall quality of the software.
Mark Gurman writes something very interesting in his report, and it’s as follows:
Like Snow Leopard set the groundwork for future overhauls and new types of Macs, iOS 27 will lay the foundation for foldable iPhones and other new hardware.
It’s safe to assume that iOS 27 is going to be a huge update in terms of framework and architecture-wise. While it may not seem like a big deal for regular iPhone users, it is going to be the gateway to a myriad of devices Apple has planned for the future including the folding iPhone set for release next year.
When it comes to features, of course, there are going to be some. The report says there are going to be enhancements for enterprise users, a focus on features for emerging markets, and Liquid Glass tweaks.
Apple is also said to launch some AI features, which includes a new Health+ subscription, and a web search feature that is going to be powered by AI.
I really want Apple to refine Liquid Glass and the overall quality of the software on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Even if it comes at a cost of zero new features, a refined software experience ensures that users will stick around more and not consider moving out to other platforms because of silly contrast-related issues on a button that emulates glass.
