Apple has stopped signing iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 updates for iPhone and iPad, meaning you cannot downgrade from 18.6 anymore.
iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 No Longer Signed, Downgrade from iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 No Longer Possible
As long as Apple is signing an older firmware version, you can downgrade from the newer one. Keeping that in mind, Apple has stopped signing iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 just now.
If you are currently on iOS 18.6 or iPadOS 18.6, you can no longer downgrade to 18.5 on your iPhone or iPad. And that’s fine, given that the newer 18.6 update is packed with bug fixes and security improvements.
If you haven’t updated to iOS 18.6 or iPadOS 18.6 yet, you can do so by going to Settings > General > Software Update. When the new update shows up, tap on Update Now.
It’s important that you download the latest iPhone and iPad software updates immediately, since they promise crucial security improvements, ensuring that your online activity stays private and secure all the time.
Given how close we are to the final release of iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, the iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 hype is really starting to fizzle out. Users are looking forward to the big update, and only today did Apple release the fifth developer beta.
Believe it or not, we’re just over a month away from a new iPhone announcement, with the potential reveal coming on the 9th of September. Right around that date, Apple will release the first release candidate of iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, and the final version the week after.
