Here’s how you can downgrade from iOS 18.6 or iPadOS 18.6 developer beta to iOS 18.5 running on iPhone and iPad.
Running into Issues? You Can Downgrade from iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 Beta Back to iOS 18.5 Using DFU Mode and Finder
Apple has released a brand new update for iPhone and iPad users in beta. Though anyone can test it out, but many people are going to change their mind about it soon and return to iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5.
That’s the thing with early betas, you never know how stable or unstable they are.
When it comes to betas, the downgrade process is not that straightforward at all. First and foremost, you have to take a backup of everything using iCloud or Finder. Once the backup is made, you have to disable Find My on your iPhone and iPad.
Now comes the difficult part – the actual downgrade itself.
See, you can’t just download the iOS 18.5 or iPadOS 18.5 IPSW file and downgrade using Finder. You have to put your iPhone and iPad in DFU mode first.
If you’ve entered DFU mode correctly, your device will instantly show up in Finder. Now, hold down the left Option key on your keyboard and then click on the Restore iPhone or Restore iPad button and then provide it with the iOS 18.5 or iPadOS 18.5 IPSW files.
Or, you can just click on the Restore iPhone or Restore iPad directly if you don’t want to download the iOS 18.5 or iPadOS 18.5 IPSW file.
Let me put it down in simple steps for you:
Download the iOS 18.5 or iPadOS 18.5 firmware file and save it to your desktop.
Step 1. Put your iPhone and iPad in DFU mode.
Step 2. Launch Finder, click on your device on the left to view more details.
Step 3. Hold down the left Option key on your keyboard and click the Restore iPhone or Restore iPad button.
Step 4. Let Finder extract the contents of the firmware file and restore it onto your iPhone or iPad.
Step 5. The downgrade will commence and you’ll be back to iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 in just a few minutes.
