The Official iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 Compatibility List is Now Live, Check if Your iPhone and iPad Works with the Latest Update

New features and changes are exciting, but it’s of no use if you can’t have them on your device.

So, if you’re looking at iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 and wondering if the new updates are compatible with the devices you have, then Apple has shared its official compatibility list.

iOS 26 is compatible with the following iPhone models:

  • iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 16e
  • iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus
  • iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus
  • iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini
  • iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini
  • iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone SE 2 and newer

In case you didn’t spot it, the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR have lost software support this year. If you have one of those iPhones, you can’t install iOS 26 on them.

Next up, the iPad. Here’s the list of iPad models that are compatible with iPadOS 26:

  • iPad Pro (M4)
  • iPad Pro 12.9‑inch (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 11‑inch (1st generation and later)
  • iPad Air (M3)
  • iPad Air (M2)
  • iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad (A16)
  • iPad (8th generation and later)
  • iPad mini (A17 Pro)
  • iPad mini (5th generation and later)

Again, if your device, or devices, aren’t in the list, then iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 won’t work. However, your old iPhone and iPad model will keep on receiving security updates for the version of iOS and iPadOS they currently support for a long period of time.

One more thing, there are always going to be features that will remain exclusive to recent devices. For example, Apple Intelligence only works with iPhone 15 Pro or higher, basically iPhones with 8GB of RAM.
