The first MacBook Neo benchmarks have surfaced online, and despite being powered by an ‘iPhone chip,’ it offers desktop-class performance.

Early Benchmarks Show that the A18 Pro in MacBook Neo Beats the M1 Chip in Two Crucial Areas

The first MacBook Neo Geekbench benchmarks are out, and the numbers show that despite being powered by the A18 Pro chip, the notebook offers better performance than the M1, something that was to be expected.

According to the results, the MacBook Neo achieved a single-core score of 3,461, multi-core score of 8,668, and Metal score of 31,286.

How does that compare to the M1?

The M1 MacBook Air, on the other hand, achieved a single-score score of 2,341, multi-core score of 8,342, and Metal score of 33,150.

For daily use, the single-core and multi-core scores are extremely important, and the MacBook Neo manages to beat the M1 on both accounts, and that’s impressive. In fact, the A18 Pro chip annihilates the M1 in single-core performance, because it’s a newer chip based on a more advanced manufacturing process.

Believe it or not, the A18 Pro manages to offer single-core performance that is comparable to the M4 chip which manages a score of about 3,600 on Geekbench.

Apple is not here to play games at all and means business with the A18 Pro chip. With time, the MacBook Neo will only get better, and if it receives yearly upgrades, then we should see the notebook being shipped with the A19 Pro chip next year and at least 12GB of RAM.
