Apple’s long-rumored MacBook, powered by the A18 Pro chip, is reportedly launching in March in ‘fun colors.’
New 12.9-inch MacBook Launching in March in ‘Fun Colors’ and Aluminum Chassis
Apple is ready to tackle the entry-level market with a new MacBook powered by a chip that is meant for the iPhone. But, it’s unclear when this notebook will actually launch.
Over the weekend, Mark Gurman shared some news in his PowerOn newsletter that Apple is actively working on the new MacBook, and it is close to release as well.
How close? We can expect the new entry-level MacBook to launch in March, which happens to be next month.
The new MacBook will have a 12.9-inch display, which is on the slightly smaller side, and should be priced around the $699 mark, if previous reports and rumors are to be believed. But for some reason, I have this feeling Apple won’t price it that low.
Gurman says that the new MacBook won’t be made from plastic, and instead use aluminum for its chassis. Apple has also created a new aluminum shell manufacturing process that is cost-effective.
The report goes on to say that this new MacBook will be available in ‘fun colors.’ Though there’s no final word on what colors will make it to the final lineup, but Apple has tested blue, green, gray, yellow, silver, and pink.
I know a lot of people are going to shrug off the A18 Pro as an underpowered chip. But when you look at the benchmarks, it’s actually better than the M1, so don’t worry, your new MacBook isn’t going to be slow.
In case you’re wondering, the A18 Pro is the same chip that made its debut on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
