Apple has released a new iPhone 17 Pro ad called ‘Detectives.’ It’s all about the 8x zoom capabilities using the telephoto lens.

Before you correct me, I’ll do it myself: the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max both have a 4x telephoto camera, not 8x. Apple uses the term 8x because it crops into the 48-megapixel sensor to deliver an ‘optical quality’ 8x zoom.
With that being said, Apple’s latest ad ‘Detectives’ is all about the 8x zoom on the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Quite frankly, the zoom is definitely useful in a lot of situations, and Apple really does a good job highlighting it in their latest ad. Just have a look:
