Here’s how you can disable the ‘Choose Profile on Wake’ feature on your Apple TV and go straight to the Home Screen instead.
Don’t Like the Profile Select Screen on Apple TV? You Can Disable it and Set Your Own Profile as Default in tvOS
Apple TV is designed to be used by multiple people, that’s why profiles in tvOS exist. The moment you select your profile, you get your apps, settings, recommendations, and more immediately, completely separate from everyone else.
Apple wanted to make accessing profiles easier, therefore it added a dedicated profile screen the moment you wake up your Apple TV. Apple thinks it’s a great idea, and some users may disagree with that.
Thankfully, you can turn off the feature completely and set a default profile your Apple TV can boot into. Let me show you how you can do that.
Step 1. Turn on your Apple TV.
Step 2. Select any profile to go into the Home Screen.
Step 3. Launch the Settings app.
Step 4. Open Profiles and Accounts.
Step 5. Turn ‘Off’ the ‘Choose Profile On Wake’ feature, and ‘Hide’ the Suggested Profiles feature.
Step 6. Under the ‘Default’ section, select the profile you instantly want to boot into. Select your own profile if you like.
Turn off your Apple TV and turn it back on again. You’ll notice that you entered your profile directly without the selection screen getting in the way, the way it has always been in tvOS 18.
Do keep in mind that the profile select screen only shows up if you have added family members to your Apple account. If you haven’t, then your Apple TV will boot straight into your profile, obviously.
