Apple has announced that the next Siri will be powered by Google’s Gemini, and a report sheds light on what we can expect once it’s out.

New Report Sheds Light on the Capabilities of Siri that is Going to be Powered by Google’s Gemini Model

Back at WWDC 2024, Apple gave us a glimpse into the new Siri. To-and-fro conversations, the ability to dig into Messages and Mail to give you more personalized replies, are all part of the package.

Though the new Siri has seen too many delays, it is finally coming to our devices soon, thanks to a partnership between Apple and Google.

Everyone thought Apple was going to use its own large language model to power Siri, but now that Gemini is going to be running the show in the backend, I’m sure a lot of you are wondering what we can expect from Siri.

A new report by The Information sheds light on what we can expect from the Gemini-powered Siri, and quite frankly, it’s the same, and nothing has changed.

Users can have engaging conversations with Siri, just like how you would with a chatbot. You can ask it questions, and it will provide answers. None of that half-baked stuff we see in the current version of Siri.

The report says that the new Siri will be able to tell more stories, will provide the user with emotional support if needed, will be able to make bookings for traveling, and create a new note and add information to it.

The emotional support bit is rather interesting. Because it hints at a mental health-related feature where users will be able to talk to Siri and hopefully seek help.

However, the report goes on further to say that Apple is going to announce more Siri features at WWDC 2026. This includes the ability to tap into past conversations for better context and provide suggestions to the user from built-in apps.
