Analyst Jeff Pu says that Apple’s upcoming folding iPhone, set for release later this year, will be powered by the faster A20 Pro chip.

Apple will Launch the Folding iPhone with the Same A20 Pro Chip from iPhone 18 Pro, Will be Based on the New 2nm Process

MacRumors has shared some information regarding the upcoming folding iPhone, and cite an investor note from analyst Jeff Pu. He says that Apple’s folding iPhone will feature the new A20 Pro chip, the same one expected in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

This new chip will be based on the new 2nm process, which means it will be faster and more efficient compared to all chips based on the current 3nm process. You can expect up to a 19% performance boost and a power efficiency of around 30%.

While those numbers may not sound like much, but that’s a huge leap forward.

Another interesting thing worth noting here is the fact that the RAM will be integrated alongside the same wafer as the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine. This translates to more efficiency and faster data processing.

The folding iPhone is also said to feature 12GB of RAM, according to Jeff Pu. It is also believed that Apple will use its new C2 modem in the folding iPhone, and whether or not this modem will support mmWave 5G remains to be seen.

And just like the current iPhone lineup, the folding iPhone will feature 48-megapixel cameras at the back for sharp photos and videos.

The folding iPhone is rumored to cost more than $2,000 and will be released alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The iPhone 18 and a new iPhone Air 2 are expected to be released in early 2027.
