watchOS 26 Bug May Cause Poor Battery Life on Apple Watch, But a Fix is Simpler than You Think
A few days ago, I was ending my day with just 10% or less battery life on my Apple Watch Ultra. Sure, it’s a couple of years old at this point, and the battery health is at 91%, but that drop is unreal, especially when you realize everything was fine a few days ago.
I charge my Apple Watch every single night and wake up to a full battery in the morning. This sort of battery drop is not normal. So, I did something simple, and it fixed battery life for me instantly, and maybe you should give it a try as well.
A Quick Hard Reset Fixes Everything
The fix is a quick hard reset of your Apple Watch. Once done, your battery life will be back to normal. All you have to do is press and hold the Digital Crown and the Side button together until you see the Apple logo on the display, and then let go of the buttons.
Once your Apple Watch has booted up, give it a while to settle down, and then you can start using it normally. And hopefully, from now on, your Apple Watch will have a ton of battery life left over at the end of the day.
Maybe it’s a watchOS 26 bug, maybe it isn’t. But if you’re seeing this sort of battery life drain overnight, make sure you give it a restart and see if it worked out for you as well.
The moment I gave my Apple Watch Ultra a restart, my battery life instantly went back to normal, with around 45% left at the end of an average day.
Maybe Upgrade Your Apple Watch?
Do keep in mind that this fix won’t magically make your old Apple Watch last an entire day. If you’ve accumulated many battery cycles, have an older model like the Apple Watch Series 6, a restart may not do anything at all.
It’s best to either get the battery replaced or just get one of the newer Apple Watch models. You really don’t need to get the absolute latest one, which is the Series 11, at the time of writing. It can be a generation old, and it will serve you perfectly.
