Apple has confirmed that Google’s Gemini AI will power the next-generation version of Siri, all set for release soon.

Apple Confirms Next-Generation Siri will be Powered by Google Gemini

Rumor surrounding a Gemini-powered Siri has been around for a while now. Today, it’s no longer a rumor, and Apple has shared a statement with CNBC stating that it has struck a deal with Google.

Despite having close ties with OpenAI, it’s interesting that Apple believes Google’s Gemini is a better fit to power the next-generation Siri.

Apple says:

After careful evaluation, we determined that Google’s technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models and we’re excited about the innovative new experiences it will unlock for our users.

No matter who or what powers Siri, I’m just glad the revamp is coming, and we can expect it to be announced alongside the release of iOS 26.4 and macOS 26.4.

However, there is a chance the new Siri may arrive even later since Apple hasn’t revealed any time frame for release.

Since Apple is tapping into Google’s AI model to power Siri, I wonder if other parts of Apple’s operating system would do so as well. This includes Writing Tools, Image Playground, and more.

Here is the full statement from Google and Apple:

Joint Statement: Apple and Google have entered into a multi-year collaboration under which the next generation of Apple Foundation Models will be based on Google’s Gemini models and cloud technology. These models will help power future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized Siri coming this year.

After careful evaluation, Apple determined that Google’s Al technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models and is excited about the innovative new experiences it will unlock for Apple users. Apple Intelligence will continue to run on Apple devices and Private Cloud Compute, while maintaining Apple’s industry-leading privacy standards.
