Apple has stopped signing iOS 26.1 and iPadOS 26.1 firmware updates, which means you can no longer downgrade from iOS 26.2 or iPadOS 26.2.

iOS 26.1 and iPadOS 26.1 No Longer Signed by Apple for iPhone and iPad, Downgrade from iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 Stopped

iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 are important updates for iPhone and iPad users around the world. If you haven’t installed them, you’re missing out on important fixes and features.

While the new firmware is meant to keep your iPhone and iPad experience up to date, there are people who would want to downgrade back to older software for reasons unknown. If you were also hoping to downgrade from iOS 26.2 or iPadOS 26.2 to iOS 26.1 or iPadOS 26.1, you can no longer do that.

Apple has stopped signing the older firmware just a while ago, and there is nothing you can do in order to downgrade your iPhone and iPad software.

If you think you can just download the firmware files and downgrade your device using Finder and a USB-C cable, you’ll achieve nothing at all by doing that. Once the software is no longer signed, it’s a complete dead end when it comes to downgrading.

You can download and install the latest software update for iPhone and iPad by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
