According to a new report, Apple’s latest iPhone 18 Pro might not have the Dynamic Island and will likely feature under-screen Face ID.
Apple to Ditch the Dynamic Island and Go Ahead with an Under-Screen Face ID Sensor with iPhone 18 Pro
The iPhone 18 lineup is set to be Apple’s biggest ever in a lot of ways. A new report from The Information says that Apple is going to implement a bunch of interesting features that will differentiate it from its predecessors.
The first and biggest change is the under-screen Face ID sensor. This instantly means that there won’t be a pill-shaped cutout at the top of the display, and the report goes on to say that Apple is going to put the selfie camera at the top left-hand corner of the display, which will be visible as a hole punch.
Interestingly, that’s the biggest change when compared to the iPhone 17 Pro lineup. In terms of physical design, the new iPhone 18 Pro models will be similar to the iPhone 17 Pro lineup.
It’s been reported on a number of occasions that the iPhone 18 Pro will ship with a camera with a variable aperture. Today’s report reaffirms that and says that at least one camera at the back, which I’m certain is the main one, will have that feature.
The last bit of information shared in the report says that Apple is going to integrate the RAM directly on the A20 chip alongside the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine. This means the iPhone 18 Pro should see a boost in performance in everyday tasks.
Apple is said to announce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the folding iPhone in 2026, most likely in September. While the standard model, along with the iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2, is set for release in early 2027.
