Apple has rolled out its Emergency SOS via Satellite feature in Mexico allowing iPhone and Apple Watch users to get help instantly.

Emergency SOS via Satellite Now Available in Mexico for iPhone 14 and Above, and Apple Watch Ultra 3 Users

Apple says that the feature works if you have an iPhone 14 or later, or the latest Apple Watch Ultra 3. If you’re in an area with no cell service or Wi-Fi, you will be able to text emergency services to get help using one of many Globalstar satellites in space.

The interesting thing is, the service is free, and there’s no telling when Apple will start charging for it. But given how important this feature is and literally ends up saving precious lives, I really hope it stays free.
