The upcoming version of Siri, super advanced and all, will be powered by Google’s Gemini AI model.
Apple is Going to Power the New Siri Using an AI Model Based on Gemini
Tim Cook recently gave us an update on when the new Siri will launch, and it’s on track for next year, in March. Today, Mark Gurman gives us an insight into how the new Siri is going to work and the partnership involved in it.
Rumors surrounding Siri being powered by either Gemini or ChatGPT have been around for a long time. Turns out, it was half true because Apple is going to use an AI model based on Gemini to power the new Siri.
Apple has asked Google to make this model for it, and it will run on Apple’s private cloud compute. But one thing should be made clear: it is a custom model of Gemini made specifically for Apple.
This custom model will also include an AI-powered search feature, something we’ve heard about before as well.
It is believed that Apple’s new Siri will be part of the iOS 26.4 software update which means it’s a few months away from now.
One thing is clear: Apple doesn’t have a model of its own that it is going to ship yet. For now, the company is relying on third parties to make Siri work, and it remains to be seen whether or not things will work out exactly how Apple intends.
As long as the new Siri sits perfectly on the promise of last year, I’ll be more than happy.
