For those living in the United States, Apple is rolling out support for Digital ID in the Wallet app.

Apple Rolling Out Support for Digital ID on iPhone and Apple Watch After Announcing it at WWDC

Apple says that you will be able to use Digital ID as a legitimate document for identification at TSA checkpoints in over 250 (and counting) airports in the United States.

As ever, Apple says that all your information is encrypted, safe, and Touch ID or Face ID is required in order to reveal your information and show it to someone in-person.

iOS 26.1 and watchOS 26.1 are a strict requirement in order to set up a Digital ID in Wallet. And you need a United States passport that isn’t expired in order to add a Digital ID to Wallet.

An Apple Account that is protected by 2FA is also a strict requirement, so is the device region set to the United States.

Just launch the Wallet app right now, tap on the + button, then select ID Cards, and then select Digital ID. You will be walked through several steps, including a selfie in order to verify it’s actually you.

Remember, you cannot use this digital ID everywhere, and definitely not outside the United States. It’s recommended that you carry your passport and official ID with you at all times when traveling.

In order to show your Digital ID, just double-press the side button on your iPhone or Apple Watch. You will be required to authenticate using Touch ID or Face ID, as mentioned before.

If you’re interested in learning more about this feature, make sure you head over to Apple’s website.
