Can’t download iOS 26.2 or iPadOS 26.2 beta on iPhone 16e, iPhone Air, or the M5 cellular iPad Pro? Apple has pulled the update.

Apple Pulls iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 Beta 1 Updates for Devices with C1 and C1X Modems

For reasons unknown, Apple has pulled the latest iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 betas for the iPhone 16e, iPhone Air, and M5 cellular iPad Pro.

If you squint your eyes a little, you’ll notice something interesting in these devices. All of them contain Apple’s in-house modem, the C1 and C1X.

The update is still available for M5 iPad Pro, as long as you have the Wi-Fi-only model. Apple has pulled the update for the cellular model only.

I’m only going to assume modem-related issues forced Apple to pull these updates. But since Apple hasn’t said anything at all on this matter, so I’m not going to speculate further on this.

At the time of writing, the update remains unavailable and I will suggest not attempting to install it on the above mentioned devices if you have the firmware files downloaded on your Mac.

When Apple is not signing a particular firmware, the installation simply fails. Therefore it’s a waste of time attempting to force install the update.
