According to the latest report, Tesla is working to bring CarPlay to its electric vehicles, and support could roll out very soon.

Tesla Working on Bringing Apple CarPlay Support to its Vehicles as Early as this Year

CarPlay was first rolled out back in 2013. Till this moment, Tesla hasn’t added support for it and has pretty much made it clear that they might not add it at all.

However, according to Bloomberg, Tesla is working on bringing CarPlay support to its vehicles and it may even roll it out by the end of this year though there is a chance the plan may get slightly delayed.

The report says Tesla is working on CarPlay support internally, and may roll out proper wireless CarPlay support as well with the final release.

Like many auto manufacturers, CarPlay will work as a separate window in your Tesla rather than take over the entire screen which means Tesla’s own software and CarPlay will work side-by-side.

This is probably a good moment to point out that Tesla is working on regular CarPlay support and not CarPlay Ultra which made its debut in Aston Martin vehicles.

In today’s world, people buy or reject an entire vehicle based on certain level of software support. CarPlay is on the top of the list of many consumers, and Tesla wants to make sure buyers aren’t left disappointed by the lack of support for it.

It will be interesting to see which Tesla car models will get support for CarPlay and whether support will be limited to a particular year and beyond. Guess we will only find out in the coming days or months.
