A new report talks about the future of the iPhone Air, and turns out the rumors we kept on hearing lately were mostly misleading.
Next iPhone Air is Coming in Spring of 2027 with a Faster Chip and Improved Battery Life
Apple does not reveal how many iPhones it has sold in a particular quarter, though it used to share that number. In fact, we have no way to find out if a particular iPhone is doing well or badly as we are left at the mercy of ‘insider’ reports and rumors for that.
Keeping that in mind, the iPhone Air has flopped so bad that Apple has no clue what to do about its successor that was set for release in 2026. Turns out, they have indefinitely delayed the second-generation model too.
Apple is doomed.
A new report by Mark Gurman in his PowerOn newsletter talks about the iPhone Air and its future, and right off the bat, the report rubbishes all claims related to delays caused by poor sales of the current model.
Turns out, the second-generation model isn’t supposed to launch in 2026 anyway, and it was never on the cards for a next year launch either. The new iPhone Air is going to launch in spring of 2027 instead.
Apple is aiming to launch the new iPhone Air with a faster and more efficient chip based on the 2nm process. This will massively improve battery life as well.
It takes a few seconds to guess that this chip will likely be the A20 Pro.
It’s uncertain if Apple is going to add a second camera to the iPhone Air, but it seems as though that is not the company’s priority. A faster chip with improved battery is.
The report also says Apple is going to launch the folding iPhone, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max in 2026. Around six months later, the company is going to launch the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and the refreshed iPhone Air.
Mark Gurman believes Apple is going to follow this release pattern for years to come. And it makes sense too, given how crowded the iPhone lineup is about to become in 2026.
