Apple is reportedly launching a second-generation iPhone Air next year, and it will include two rear cameras instead of one.
iPhone Air is Getting a Second Ultra-Wide Camera – Will be 48-Megapixels and Horizontally Arranged
According to those who have bought the iPhone Air, the phone’s single Fusion camera is one of its biggest drawbacks. But leaker Digital Chat Station says Apple is going to change things a bit next year.
According to the information shared, Apple is going to ship the 2026 iPhone Air with an ultra-wide camera apart from the main Fusion camera. Both cameras will be 48-megapixels as well.
The cameras are said to be horizontally arranged, and not vertical like the iPhone 17. It makes sense given the rest of the phone’s thin body is utilized to house the battery.
Given that the entire smartphone brain lives inside the camera plateau (camera bump) of the iPhone Air, I wonder how Apple is going to fit a second camera in there. I’m pretty sure the company has something figured out.
Apple can change the game by introducing a Center Stage camera on the back of the iPhone next year. With its square sensor, users don’t have to worry about orientation, and can record photos or videos any way they want.
For now, it seems like Apple is going to stick with a regular ultra-wide camera that is similar to what we’ve seen on every iPhone since the iPhone 11. But hey, it has potential for Center Stage, doesn’t it?
