Apple’s new iOS 26.1 and iPadOS 26.1 beta 4 updates for iPhone and iPad are out, and here’s everything that is new in this release.

iOS 26.1 Beta 4 Includes a Couple of Important Changes for iPhone Users, Including the Ability to Tune Down Liquid Glass

With every new iOS 26.1 beta update, Apple is throwing in a change or two for iPhone and iPad users. It almost feels unreal at this point, because you don’t expect a new change in every single update, yet here we are.

iOS 26.1 beta 4 is no different, and it too comes with a couple of important changes, and I’ll start with the most obviously and important one.

Liquid Glass ‘Clear’ and ‘Tinted’ Toggle

If you go to Settings > Display & Brightness, you’ll see a new Liquid Glass entry. Open it up, and it will give you the option to choose between Clear and Tinted.

With this option, you can choose the intensity of Liquid Glass throughout the system, without turning it off completely. This is definitely a nice addition for those who think Liquid Glass is overwhelming in certain places.

For me, the Clear option is the way to go. It feels fresh, and going back to an iOS 18-style interface again is not on the menu for me anymore.

This option is available on the Mac as well.

‘Lock Screen Swipe to Open Camera’ Option

There are multiple ways to open the Camera app on iPhone, with the most common one being swinging left on the Lock Screen.

If you go to Settings > Camera right now, you’ll see a new option called Lock Screen Swipe to Open Camera. Turn it off, and you’ve disabled the ability to launch the Camera app from the Lock Screen.

Are you someone who accidentally launches the Camera app in your pocket? Then this feature is what you’ve been waiting for on your iPhone.
