Thinking of getting a maxed-out M5 MacBook Pro with a 14-inch display? That’s cost you $3,369, which is actually a good deal.

M5 MacBook Pro with 32GB RAM, 4TB SSD, 96W Charger, and Nano-Texture Display Costs $3,369

Sure, a new chip is always welcome, but when it comes to storage, Apple is throwing in a little extra this year by offering a 4TB storage option.

As ever, that storage upgrade is going to cost you a lot of money, but in return, you can forget your external drive at home and never worry about it again.

Anyway, if you’re planning to get a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the new M5 chip, and also thinking of getting the maxed-out option, then this is what you will get:

  • Nano-texture display – $150 upgrade
  • Apple M5 chip with 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine
  • 32GB unified memory – $200 upgrade
  • 4TB SSD storage – $1,000 upgrade
  • 96W USB-C Power Adapter – $20 upgrade

All of this is going to set you back $3,369 only. But if you’re asking me, the only upgrade worth getting, if you’re buying this MacBook Pro for general use only, is the faster 96W charger, and maybe bump up the storage to 2TB.

For pretty much everyone out there, the base model, which costs $1,499 only, is the sweet spot. Upgrading it ‘just in case’ is only going to be counterproductive.

One more thing, I did not include any software bundle with the MacBook Pro. The above pricing is only applicable on hardware upgrades.

As a computer, the M5 MacBook Pro already offers great value for money. But if you want to squeeze out the most amount of value, then the M4 MacBook Air remains king. And the only thing that will dethrone that notebook is the M5 MacBook Air, which will eventually be released.
