Apple is preparing to launch the M5 MacBook Pro soon, according to a new report. But higher-end models will be available later.

Report Says Apple Will Launch Base Model M5 MacBook Pro First, Higher-End Models with M5 Pro and M5 Max Coming Later

Last year, Apple gave us the M4 MacBook Pro lineup in its entirety. From the base model to the M4 Max one, everything was available in one fell swoop.

This year, things are going to be slightly different, according to a report by AppleInsider.

The report says Apple is only going to launch the base model MacBook Pro with M5 first, and everything else in the lineup will launch later. In fact, the M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro models might launch in early 2026 instead.

This explains why the base model M4 MacBook Pro is going out of stock these days, while the high-end models are readily available.

Either that, or people just love the value the base M4 MacBook Pro delivers.

Apple has a handful of hardware to announce with M5 inside it. For starters, the M5 iPad Pro is definitely coming, and it’s one of the worst kept secrets of this year. Other than that, Apple is going to announce an upgraded version of Vision Pro with M5 as well.

Early benchmarks show that the M5 chip might not offer huge gains when it comes to CPU performance, but will definitely go big when it comes to graphics.

Is that reason enough to upgrade your current MacBook Pro? Only if Apple is going to announce a dedicated hardware feature, which seems highly unlikely at this point.

If you were planning to buy that M4 MacBook Pro, I will suggest holding back a few more days.
