Apple released the second developer beta of iOS 26.1 and iPadOS 26.1 yesterday, and it was only a matter of time before the same build would become available for public beta testers.
A day later, Apple has released the second public beta of iOS 26.1 and iPadOS 26.1, and if you’ve installed the first public beta, then you can go right ahead and install the second one over the air.
Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, then go to General, then Software Update. Let the page refresh and you’ll see the update with an Update Now button underneath it. Tap on the button and installation will begin immediately.
iOS 26.1 and iPadOS 26.1 public beta 2 include some interesting changes for iPhone and iPad devices.
First of all, Slide Over multitasking makes a return to iPad, and secondly, Apple has added a new ‘Slide to stop’ slider to the Lock Screen whenever an alarm goes off.
It’ll be interesting to see what other changes Apple throws into the mix as more beta updates arrive.
