Worried that you might accidentally bend the iPhone Air because it’s too thin? Apple’s extreme bend test shows that’s not a problem.

iPhone Air Easily Survives 130 Pounds of Force, Stays in Shape, Shows No Sign of Bending Afterwards

At just 5.6mm thin, the iPhone Air is way too thin. Thin enough to have you concerned whether or not it would survive everyday use, especially when it comes to bending.

Turns out, that isn’t an issue at all, according to Apple’s own bend test, in a video shared with Tom’s Guide.

With up to 130 pounds of force applied on the iPhone Air right in the center, the phone shows signs of being bent, but as soon as the force is removed, it comes right back to its original shape.

The thing that’s really mind-boggling about this test is how the test machine holds the 130 pounds of force for a few seconds before letting go.

Compared to the iPhone 6 and its infamous ‘Bendgate’ issue, the iPhone Air did exceptionally well, and Apple says it is the most durable iPhone ever made, too. So there’s that.

The thing is, Apple’s ultra-slim smartphone is made from titanium, which is a huge step-up from aluminum which Apple used in the iPhone 6 in terms of durability.

If you’ve been holding back from iPhone Air only because it might end up being bent, there’s nothing to worry about at all.
