According to benchmarks, the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air feature 12GB of RAM, compared to just 8GB on the iPhone 17.

If You Want More RAM, Go for the iPhone Air or iPhone 17 Pro – Standard iPhone 17 Model Ships with 8GB RAM Like Before

Apple wasn’t kidding when it said the iPhone Air offers pro performance in a thin and light package. Because, according to benchmarks shared by MKBHD in his unboxing video, Apple’s 5.6mm smartphone has 12GB of RAM.

On the other hand, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max feature 12GB of RAM as well. So, this gives you another incentive to go for the Air and Pro models this year – extra RAM.

On the other hand, the standard iPhone 17 has 8GB of RAM, which has proven to be more than enough for the average user over the years.

The video also shares Geekbench 6 scores for all four smartphones. I’m just going to share the whole thing as a list below:

  • iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max – single core: 3,822, multi-core: 9,713
  • iPhone Air – single-core: 3,422, multi-core: 8,866
  • iPhone 17 – single-core: 3.643, multi-core: 9,320

I honestly don’t know what’s going on with the iPhone 17 scores here, because the multi-core performance exceeds the iPhone Air despite having an A19 chip instead of A19 Pro.

Should you skip buying the iPhone 17 because it has less RAM? Definitely not. The amount of features you get at the $799 price point makes it a way better deal compared to the entire lineup.

Things like an always-on display, ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate display, and dual 48-megapixel cameras add way too much value than RAM alone.
