Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro with an OLED panel is also said to feature a touch-screen display, according to a latest report.
Upcoming OLED MacBook Pro will Include a Touch-Screen Panel, Giving Users Multiple Ways to be Productive
There are two parts to this report from Ming-Chi Kuo, and I’m going to talk about them separately. This one is going to focus on the MacBook Pro with an OLED display.
According to the report, Apple’s MacBook Pro that is supposed to feature an OLED display will go into mass production in 2026. Previous reports have talked about the OLED upgrade a lot, but today’s report deals with a new feature which no-one saw coming.
Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple’s new MacBook Pro will also have a touch-screen panel, the first time ever in any Mac. And it’s going to be an on-cell touch-screen panel, which means the touch sensor is a part of the display and not a separate layer.
The report says Apple is going ahead with a touch-screen version of the MacBook Pro after seeing how users interact with the iPad Pro. In some cases, a touch-screen is a far better way to handle tasks, so adding it to the notebook makes sense in terms of enhancing productivity.
My concern is whether or not this is going to be an optional upgrade on the MacBook Pro or a standard feature. If it’s optional, Apple is definitely going to charge a premium on this, especially if it’s limited to higher-end models with powerful chips.
