Apple CEO Tim Cook shared that iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 are the most popular developer betas to date.
iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 Tahoe Most Popular Developer Betas to Date, According to Tim Cook
Q3 2025 was definitely a great one for Apple, as the company saw 10% growth compared to the same time period from last year.
During the call, Apple also shared that it has sold its 3 billionth iPhone, definitely a milestone the company will keep on seeing time after time.
Tim Cook also shared something interesting related to iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 developer betas. He said that these are the most popular developer betas Apple has released to date.
I have a few theories why that is the case, apart from the most obvious one – Liquid Glass.
The thing is, you don’t have to spend a dime in order to test out developer betas from Apple. There was a time Apple charged $99 in order to access pre-release software, now that fee has been waived off, anyone can hop in and test out the software, as long as your device supports it.
If you want to publish your app or game on the App Store, then you have to pay the $99 amount for annual access.
Keeping that in mind, and the fact that word gets out really fast that Apple is offering something for free, you have yourself an extremely popular developer beta at hand.
Tim Cook didn’t even talk about the pubic betas that were released last week. I’m quite certain the entire software lineup is the most popular to date if those are taken into account as well.
