Here’s how you can stop your Apple TV from receiving new tvOS 26 developer or public beta updates right now.

Once You’re Done Testing tvOS 26 Beta, Make Sure You Stop Your Apple TV from Receiving New Beta Updates

Right off the bat, I want to make something very clear – once you opt out of tvOS 26 beta updates, this will not downgrade your Apple TV back to tvOS 18. You will only stop receiving new tvOS 26 beta updates, including tvOS 26.1, tvOS 26.2, and so on.

If you are already testing out tvOS 26 beta on your Apple TV, and looking for a way to downgrade, your options are limited to the Apple TV model with a USB-C port on its back.

Also, do not disable tvOS 26 beta updates in the middle of testing it; otherwise, you’ll stop receiving new updates and you’ll be on the beta for good, unless you enable beta updates again.

This tutorial assumes that you are running the final version of tvOS 26 on your Apple TV and you do not wish to test out more beta updates on it.

Here’s what you have to do in order to disable tvOS 26 beta updates on Apple TV:

Step 1. Turn on your Apple TV.

Step 2. Launch the Settings app from the Home Screen.

Step 3. Scroll all the way down to System and open it.

Step 4. You’ll see an option here called Get Beta Updates. Open it.

Step 5. Select Off, and you’re done.

Testing beta software is fun and games until you come across an issue which can only be fixed with a brand-new update. And while Apple releases new software updates on a regular basis, if you want something fixed immediately, then you have to wait up to a couple of weeks or maybe more.

That’s why it’s a good idea to get off the beta channel once the full and final version becomes available os you do not find yourself in the same situation.

If you’re interested in testing out the tvOS 26 developer beta, you will find the details posted here. Public beta instead? You’ll find everything here.
