A fresh report says that Apple’s affordable, A18 Pro-powered MacBook will likely launch as early as this year.

Affordable A18 Pro-Powered MacBook Launching Later this Year with a $599 Price Tag and 12.9-Inch Display

Apple is going to release a lot of hardware this year, but the most interesting one from the bunch is the rumored affordable MacBook, powered by the A18 Pro chip.

Thanks to Digitimes, we now have a little more information about the notebook.

First of all, the notebook is rumored to feature a 12.9-inch display, which is quite interesting, because Apple has never released a notebook in that size before.

In fact, that display size is smaller than all 13-inch MacBook Air models Apple has released to date, with the current one being 13.6-inch, and the M1 model was 13.3-inch.

What makes that even more interesting is how that display size is the same as the larger iPad Pro and iPad Air. Not saying the affordable MacBook will look like an iPad in terms of design, but who knows Apple’s old parts bin might just allow that.

The second thing, which makes this notebook exciting, is the price. According to the report, the notebook will cost somewhere between $599 and $699. Both of those price points are fantastic for those looking to get their first-ever Mac.

Do keep in mind that the MacBook Air starts at a price of $999 straight from Apple. So a lower price, even if it’s $699 instead of $599, is a pretty good deal.

The report goes to add that the affordable MacBook will go into final assembly in the fourth quarter of this year. There is a chance that Apple might release this notebook later this year, or in early 2026.

Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the new notebook from Apple will come in several color options, including silver, blue, pink, and yellow.

In terms of performance, the A18 Pro will deliver numbers similar to the M1 chip, which is rather astonishing given how well the M1 chip performs even in 2025.
