A new report sheds light on Apple’s future plans which includes a tabletop robot with AI and home security cameras, including a doorbell.
Apple has Massive Plans for the Smart Home, Including a Tabletop Robot with a Display and Smart Security Cameras
The tabletop robot news is nothing new, but Bloomberg really goes into detail what it is going to be about.
Rather than releasing said robot in 2026 as previous rumored, the report says that the tabletop robot will arrive in 2027, most likely. And, it will have a 7-inch display connected to a robotic arm which can look around and extend 6 inches in any direction.
The idea is that this robot will serve as a virtual companion and will be fully interactive with the user. It will even look at the person to whom it is talking to and will even interrupt conversations to give its suggestions on certain topics, like a real person.
The robot will also include a FaceTime camera for making video calls, something that will make this robot extremely useful in places like the living room.
The report says that this product is in its prototyping stages, and there is a chance it may get delayed. But beyond 2027? There’s a chance.
Apple is also working on a home security camera with a built-in battery to deliver a completely wireless security experience. The battery will last up to a year on a single charge as well.
The camera will have all the basic features you expect from a product like this, including facial recognition, motion detection, and more.
The report goes on to say that Apple is working on several types of cameras, not just one, including a doorbell, something which has been talked about before too.
One thing is clear: Apple is suddenly taking its smart home platform way too seriously and wants to take over everything with self-made products. I’m sure a lot of third-party manufactures are not going to like this at all.
