Apple’s latest iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 updates are set for release next week, and here’s everything new in them.

iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 Includes Important Bug Fixes and Security Updates for iPhone and iPad Devices

Despite the big number jump from iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5, you would expect the new updates to be big on content. That’s not the case at all. In fact, far from it.

In terms of features, Apple is not shipping anything new with iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 at all.

I’ve said on numerous occasions that Apple is focusing on fixing bugs and improving the performance of iPhone and iPad devices, and that’s what this update does.

If you want to see the official changelog of the update, here it is, in all its glory:

This update provides important bug fixes and security updates, and fixes an issue in Photos that could prevent memory movies from being shared.

As you can see, this is just a bug fix and security update. It fixes an interesting bug in the Photos app that may prevent memory movies from being shared. Though I’ve never come across this bug, it’s nice to see Apple acknowledging and fixing it.

While the update will likely be available for everyone next week, you can still download it right now on your iPhone and iPad.

At the time of writing, the update is available as RC for developers and public beta testers, which means the final build is available for testers only.

In order to download this build, which is essentially the final version, just sign up for the iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 public beta. Once you do that, the final version of iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 will show right up.

Tap on Update Now, and you’ll be on your way in a matter of minutes.

I have actually covered the steps to download the update in detail right here.
