While there’s no easy way to upgrade your iPhone’s Lightning port to USB-C, a case for your iPhone can remedy that problem instantly.

The Obsoless Case Gives Your Lightning-Only iPhone a USB-C Port for Charging, Data Syncing, and CarPlay

A few years back, someone replaced the Lightning port on the iPhone X with USB-C. This blog wasn’t around at the time, but I’m sure you’ve read the story.

The person responsible for that marvelous feat is Ken Pillonel. Today, he’s back in the news again with a case for iPhone with Lightning that adds a USB-C port to it.

It all happens without any sort of hardware modification. You put on the case, and you get a USB-C port.

The first important thing about the case is that it just snaps on and it just works. It’s a two-piece design that is very durable, and does not require any sort of tooling to put together.

Secondly, this case ensures that you get fast charging support, data syncing, and support for CarPlay through USB-C. It does not break any functionality of your Lightning iPhone at all. The USB-C simply takes over everything.

The case even has MagSafe support, which means it has built-in magnets to hold on to a MagSafe charger, even the one from Apple. It is a very nice touch.

There’s an entire video showing how the whole thing came to be, and I’m sure you would want to watch it:

The iPhone case will be available for 20 different models, which is a lot, I know. And, it will be available in September under the brand name Obsoless.
