Apple has a huge parts bin, and it will reuse the screen from the iPhone 16e for the new iPhone 17e, set for launch next year.

iPhone 17e with Same Display as 16e Launching in May 2026

One look at the iPhone 16e and it becomes clear that Apple used its massive parts bin for the display. That display comes from the iPhone 14, with a smaller notch and all.

With a new report out by TheElec, Apple is set to release a new iPhone 17e in spring of 2026, with the same display used in the iPhone 16e.

Interestingly, this is the same time-frame of release a previous report talked about too.

Those who were hoping for a Dynamic Island on Apple’s cheaper iPhone will walk away disappointed. But again, this is a ‘cheaper’ iPhone, it’s not supposed to have all the features.

Even MagSafe remains missing from the current model, and the uproar came from those who didn’t buy the phone in the first place.

For the average user, the display on the iPhone 16e is more than enough. It’s plenty bright, really sharp, outputs HDR content, and super responsive at the same time.

Sure, it could have been slightly bigger, up to 6.3 inches rather than 6.1, but that would make the iPhone slightly less portable.

I wouldn’t worry about the iPhone 17e having an ‘older’ display. It’s perfectly fine the way it is.

if you’re going to complain about the display already, then you’re not the target audience for the cheaper iPhone at all.
