Relive the original iPhone keynote with the OS X logo wallpaper, inspired by Steve Jobs’ famous quote: ‘The iPhone runs OS X.’
‘iPhone Runs OS X’ – Steve Jobs, Macworld, 2007. Download the Wallpaper for Your iPhone Today
The original iPhone announcement from 2007 has a lot of interesting things in it. One of those things is what Steve Jobs said while introducing the software that iPhone runs.
Everyone knows the iPhone ran iPhone OS at the time, but Steve Jobs said on stage that iPhone runs OS X. But of course, it didn’t actually run OS X, the operating system for the Mac at the time.
While the iPhone did run iPhone OS, its foundations stemmed from OS X, Apple’s desktop operating system, which has now been rebranded to macOS.
A lot of people don’t actually know this at all, and if you’re a huge Apple fan, then you definitely know.
Keeping that interesting detail in mind, I made a wallpaper for iPhone with the OS X logo on it, which is a throwback to the 2007 keynote. It’s a sharp reminder where iPhone OS, now iOS, originated from, and that’s one amazing backstory.
