watchOS 11.6 RC is now available for download on Apple Watch, and anyone can install it by following a few simple steps.

Apple Releases RC Build of watchOS 11.6 for Apple Watch, Anyone Can Go Ahead and Download it Today

The release candidate of watchOS 11.6 is available to download right now. If you have been testing watchOS 11.6, either the developer or public beta, you can download the latest update with build number 22U84 by following these steps:

  • Place your Apple Watch on its magnetic charger.
  • Launch the Watch app on your iPhone.
  • Tap on General, then Software Update.
  • Tap on Update Now when watchOS 11.6 RC shows up.

Signing up to the public beta is all it takes to make the update available for you. Just go to beta.apple.com, sign up using your Apple Account, and then enable watchOS 11 Public Beta by going to Watch > General > Software Update > Beta Updates on your iPhone.

The full and final update is expected to be released for everyone next week, and that’s the time you should download the update too rather than right now.

The thing is, this is the ‘first’ RC build of watchOS 11.6. If any issue is found, Apple might release a new RC build or a slightly revised final version of the update. So, rather than updating twice, just do it once next week and be on your way, absolutely worry-free.

On the watchOS 26 side of the fence, things are starting to get exciting as well. With features like Workout Buddy coming to our wrists as well as Liquid Glass, the makeover the tiny screen is getting is actually a big one.

But the important thing here is, will Apple disrupt the way we use our Apple Watch? Maybe a little, since the new UI can be a little overwhelming for some users. But thankfully, things haven’t changed that much across the board when it comes to places where features belong.

If you’re a long-time Apple Watch user, the watchOS 26 user interface is still familiar to you, yet so fresh the moment you look at it. I think this is exactly what Apple Watch needed all these years.
