ChatGPT for Mac has been updated with a feature that lets users record and transcribe audio right from within the app.

Instantly Record and Transcribe Audio on the Fly Using ChatGPT for Mac – Available for Plus Subscribers

If you’re looking for a way to record and transcribe audio using ChatGPT on the Mac, that feature is rolling out right now. But it is currently limited to ChatGPT Plus subscribers only, not free users.

This feature is currently available on the Mac version of the app, and will eventually roll out on other platforms as well. If you have an iPhone, iPad, or maybe even an Android phone or Windows PC, this feature will eventually make its way to you.

The app will listen to audio using your Mac’s microphone and the macOS system audio. When the recording is complete, it will be transcribed, timestamps will be added, pretty much everything you expect an AI to do.

There is one thing everyone should know: recordings are limited to 120 minutes only, after which they end. You can start recording immediately after that, if you so like.

OpenAI has made it clear that it isn’t going to use these recordings to train its model. Also, the company says that the entire audio recording is deleted immediately after it is transcribed, and we have no choice but to take their word for it, despite past experiences.

If you want to take the feature for a spin, you can download the Mac app by going to this link. And remember, this feature isn’t available on the web either.
