There are two versions of AirPods 4 available from Apple, and the cheaper of the two is referred to as ‘Economic’ internally.
Apple has a Very Fitting Name for the Base Model AirPods 4 – Economic
There’s ‘AirPods 4,’ and then there’s the ‘AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation.’ Those are the official names given to these earbuds by Apple.
But, ever wondered what the cheaper one is called internally? According to some digging around by Aaron Perris in new Apple code, the cheaper model is referred to as ‘AirPods 4 Economic.’
I actually find this hilarious, because going with the word ‘Economic’ enforces the fact that they’re the non-ANC version of AirPods 4.
Despite the interesting internal moniker, the base model AirPods 4 is exactly what consumers should get because they offer the best fit and sound in a very ‘economical’ package.
See what I did there?
The regular, non-in-ear design of the AirPods 4 makes them a joy to wear, and that’s something a lot of people strive for because it’s just too easy to handle. And that’s one of the reasons why I reach for my AirPods 3 more than my AirPods Pro 2.
Now, you must be thinking, what does Apple call the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation internally? Glad you asked, because it’s just ‘AirPods 4 with ANC.’
It’s always fun to learn things like these on a daily basis.
