The Official 3DMark Gaming Benchmark App Arrives on the Mac, Runs Natively on Apple’s Metal API

3DMark has been around for a long time and is the go-to benchmarking tool for PC users. In fact, the app is available for iOS and Android as well.

Today, the company behind 3DMark is bringing the app to the Mac, allowing users around the world to test out their computer’s gaming performance by running several different tests.

Once you download and install the app, you can run a total of four different kinds of benchmark tests:

  • Wild Life Extreme
  • Solar Bay
  • Steel Nomad Light
  • Steel Nomad

The app is not just a port of the Windows version; it runs absolutely natively on the Mac. The developers made the effort to fully support the Metal API from Apple, ensuring the app takes full advantage of the latest Mac hardware.

While the app is free to download, do keep in mind that you have to pay $34.99 in order to unlock the full version. The full version includes Explorer Mode and Steel Nomad. Not only that, you also get support for HDR and some other features too.

If you have already paid the $34.99 for Windows, then you don’t have to pay anything for the Mac version.

Head over to 3DMark.com now, download the app, and take it for a spin on your Mac.
