Released back in 2018, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are now considered vintage by Apple.
Apple Gives Vintage Status to iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max
The craziest part is, despite getting vintage status today, these phones fully support the iOS 18 operating system. However, when iOS 26 comes out later this year, the update won’t be available for these phones.
When a product goes vintage, it means it’s been over five years since the device went on sale. If something goes wrong with your iPhone XS or XS Max going forward, official repairs will be limited to parts available at the time.
iPhone XS was one of my favorite iPhones since it fixed my biggest complaint for the iPhone X – not having a bigger screen. Not only that, it also brought dual-SIM support to iPhone for the first time.
The thing that puzzled me the most is how short-lived this iPhone was. The moment iPhone 11 was released, iPhone XS and XS Max were completely removed from sale; Apple did not sell it any further.
Products going into vintage is a stark reminder how quickly time flies by.
